A dedicated team of veterinarian professionals inspired to heal
Our Team
Wendy Camp, DVM, Owner
A photo of Dr. Camp as a toddler, pacifier in mouth, holding a puppy as long as she was tall, proves her love of animals started early. Her Mom set a lasting example as an avid animal lover, who welcomed all types of pets and taught her children how to catch crawdads in mountain streams and helped them tend sick or injured wild songbirds in shoe box nests in their living room. A fan of horses and all furry creatures, Dr. Camp fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian by taking biology and other sciences as an undergraduate at North Carolina State University, where she was also awarded her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1991.
Upon graduation, Dr. Camp worked at a mixed animal practice in Louisburg, NC for 3 years and then moved to Greensboro, her hometown, to be closer to family. At first, she served as a relief vet for several months and then spent the next 25 years caring for local pets at Friendly Animal Clinic, where she became a partner. When the practice was sold, she purchased Northwest Animal Hospital in 2019.
Dr. Camp has always been attracted to the broad scope and variety of pursuits that the veterinary profession entails and enjoys both the medical and surgical aspects of veterinary medicine. Surgery is particularly gratifying for her, and she performs a wide variety of surgical procedures.
The proud mother of five cherished grown sons (plus three grown stepsons from a previous marriage), family is very important to Dr. Camp. Her Christian faith and love of family are a daily guide to her in work and home life, and she is proud of her boys' and her hand-prints pressed into the concrete at the front of the practice. Aside from her treasured family time, she enjoys the outdoors - bike riding, hiking, kayaking and horseback riding. She also relaxes by reading books and enjoys attending plays.
Tina Becker, DVM
Dr. Becker’s passion for horses, which began at Girl Scout camp, continued when she moved to a small farm and continued riding and working with horses. She knew her destiny was to become a veterinarian. She completed her undergraduate studies at Purdue University and earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine there in 1987.
The following year, Dr. Becker relocated to North Carolina, working in a mixed animal practice until 1991. For the next decade, she worked in small animal practices in Wilmington, NC, and Columbia, SC. Dr. Becker settled in Greensboro in 2000. She met Dr. Camp while caring for pets with her at Friendly Animal Clinic and is pleased to be part of our team. Dr. Becker is particularly interested in acupuncture as an animal treatment modality and holds national certification.
Like Dr. Camp, Dr. Becker is family-focused and enjoys walking her dogs, hiking, and the beach.
